Shane B. Lillis, a doctoral candidate in the Department of French at Berkeley, is exploring in his dissertation the representation and manipulation of human figures in Céline, Bataille and Beckett, in conjunction with questions of language, voice and stage. Particular interests include the experience of 1914-18 trench warfare and the relation between technology and medicine in post-war (and later) authors. Projects/conferences have included work on Joyce, Beckett, Céline, Baudelaire, Proust. Other interests: Anglo-Irish literature, Hispanic literature, and music. |
