Padma is a doctoral candidate in the English department. She is working on a dissertation roughly titled "Translating Empire: The Aesthetics of Colonial Exchange," which examines the role of translation and translation theory in 19th-century British colonial literature and practice. Her other interests include political theory, Indian philosophy, and epic.
